Experience the Finnish nature and lifestyle with all your senses! In Lumous Forest Hut, you can admire breath-taking lake views and feel complete privacy. This full-service package will guide you to the most Finnish forms of relaxation – nature and sauna.

The package includes:

• 1-night accommodation in Lumous Forest Hut for 2

• a guided nature tour with a light meal by the campfire (1,5-2 h)

• a private sauna

• light supper and breakfast supplies

With the guidance of Marjo from LuontoVire, you will be led to the pathless routes of the nearby forests, where you can calm down by listening to the relaxing sounds of nature and admiring the local flora and fauna. The tour will end with a light meal enjoyed by the campfire as well as traditional Finnish dessert.

After some fresh air, sauna is a perfect way to end the day. The sauna will be heated up for you, or if you wish, you can participate in heating the wood-stove sauna and carrying the washing water from the lake. The sauna is in your private use. Washing with clean, heated lake water. At the end of the day, it is lovely to fall asleep under the setting midnight sun or a thousand shining stars.

Please note that in Lumous Forest Hut, there is a dry toilet and no running water.

Further information
Lumous Forest Hut is a new special accommodation by the lake Haukilampi, in Hankasalmi, Central Finland. It was completed in March 2023. Lumous Forest Hut is a cozy small room with heating and beds for two people. A marvelous panorama window of a size of the whole wall opens to the lake. Solar power, lighting in hut and sauna, possibility to charge mobile phones. Basic tableware for two people and cooking utensils. In a private fireplace, there is a griddle pan and spatula, coffee and water kettle, cast iron pan, barbeque tongs and cups and bowls for two.

The accommodation includes the usage of a traditional Finnish lakeside sauna. In the sauna building, there is a dressing room and an outdoor cooking shelter with gas stove. The heating service included, you can take part in heating if you wish! Washing water is carried from the clean lake and heated in the sauna.


Meal will be enjoyed by the campfire with traditional Finnish dessert. Please inform about your special diets in advance. Evening snack and breakfast are included and they can be prepared independently.

In the summer we enjoy hiking.
During winter, guests can enjoy ice swimming and use equipment for excursions such as snowshoes and poles.

Accommodation is meant for two people, except if an infant / small child travels with two other people. Please inform about that in advance. There is no separate bed available for the child.

Feature description

Own outdoor BBQ/campfire place with utensils (griddle pan and spatula, 2 kettles, coffee and water kettle, cast iron pan, barbeque tongs and cups and bowls for two, wood for the fire and sauna. In the cooking shelter by the sauna, there are gas fridge, gas stove, tableware for two, and cooking utensils. Table and chairs in the sauna terrace, two deck chairs, pier with the ladder to the lake. Lighting at sauna with batteries. Eco-toilet also by the car parking, 80 m from the hut. Nature trail (about 2 km) signed in the terrain.

A warm, sunny spot on a small rock with a beautiful lake view. The nature right around the hut is pine forest with blueberries and lingonberries. Height differences. Own outdoor fire/BBQ place next to the hut. Gravel paths as passageways. By the sauna, there is a terrace and stairs to the big wooden pier, which is perfect for enjoying the sun in the summer. Swimming ladder to the lake from the pier.

Driving instructions
From Route 9 between Jyväskylä and Kuopio, follow "Säkinmäki" signs. The address is Lehminiementie 34. Turn right from the sign of "Haukilammen Tunnelmatupa", drive about 500 m and then turn left, following "Lumous" signs. At the end, there is a steep uphill and S-bend, after which you are in the destination. From the parking, there is about 80 m walking to the hut.
