Experience Finnish nature and lifestyle with all your senses! At Lumous Forest Hut, enjoy breathtaking lake views and complete privacy. This full-service holiday offers an authentic Finnish experience of relaxation, nature and sauna.

The package includes:

  • 1-night accommodation in Lumous Forest Hut for 2 peoplea

  • guided nature tour with a meal by the campfire (1.5–2 hours)

  • a private sauna

  • a supper and breakfast supplies

With Marjo from LuontoVire as your guide, you will explore the nearby forests along pathless trails, admiring the local nature as you go. Relax and enjoy the beauty and calmness of the surroundings. The tour ends with a meal prepared over the campfire.

After the nature walk, the sauna is the perfect way to end the day. The sauna will be heated for you, or if you wish, you can take part in heating the wood-burning sauna and carrying the washing water from the lake. Washing is done with clean lake water heated in the sauna. There is no shower in the sauna. The sauna is for your private use. At the end of the day, it is lovely to fall asleep under the setting midnight sun or a thousand shining stars.

Please note that the Lumous Forest Hut has an eco-toilet and no running water. Solar power is used for heating and lighting.

In summer, we move on foot; in winter, you may use snowshoes or enjoy the silence of nature by the campfire.


In winter, the parking area is located 260 metres away due to the steep and slippery road.

Luontovire’s Lumous Forest Hut is a special accommodation surrounded by nature on the shore of Lake Haukilampi, in Hankasalmi, Central Finland. Lumous Forest Hut is a cosy, warm room with beds for two people. A marvellous full-wall panorama window offers a beautiful view of the lake. You will have a private sauna available to you throughout your stay. The sauna building includes a dressing room and an outdoor cooking shelter with a gas stove. In summer, there is a refrigerator; in winter, a cool bag is provided. Solar power is used for lighting in the hut and sauna, as well as for charging mobile phones.

Breakfast and evening snack supplies (L or G) are included for self-preparation.
In winter, an ice hole for winter swimming is available, as well as equipment for outdoor activities (snowshoes and poles).

Accommodation is intended for two people, but an infant held in arms may stay as an additional guest. Please inform us of this when making your reservation. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets.

Feature description
Accommodation has a heater, twin beds with bed linen made up for 2 people, a small table, two chairs, a coat rack, and an eco-toilet (entrance from the hut’s porch). There is a private campfire area with utensils (griddle pan and spatula, saucepan, coffee and water pots, cast iron pan, barbecue tongs), and an outdoor dining set with utensils for two, plus wood for the fire and sauna. At the sauna, there is a gas refrigerator, a gas stove, tableware, and cooking utensils for two. The sauna has a sunny terrace with seating and steps down to a spacious jetty with a swimming ladder into the lake. Sauna lighting powered by batteries. There is a nature trail marked on the site. A rowing boat is available for your use in the summer. Accommodation includes breakfast supplies, which would be prepared independently. The breakfast supplies include coffee, tea, milk, jam/bread, butter, cheese, yoghurt, instant oatmeal flakes, soft drink and dough for preparing Finnish crepes/pancakes in the fireplace.

A very sunny, warm spot with a stunning view of the lake and beautiful nature right next to the hut and sauna. Next to the hut, there is a private campfire area. Rocky slopes, low vegetation, and gravelled paths provide easy access around the area. The terrain has some height differences. There is a terrace by the sauna and 20 steps leading down to the shore. A large sunbathing jetty with a ladder providing access to the lake. An impressive and beautiful location.

Shore description
The lake is sunny until late in the evening, depending on the season. The water deepens quickly, making it ideal for swimming. There is a large jetty with a ladder into the lake. You can walk in from the shore to swim, though the water deepens fast. The beach is for your private use during your stay. In winter, an ice hole is available for refreshing dips, and you can walk on the lake ice when its thickness safely allows it.

Driving instructions
Address: Lehminiementie 34 B, 41560 Säkinmäki, Hankasalmi. Accommodation name Lumous.
From Road 9, follow the signs to Säkinmäki, or from Hankasalmi village centre, follow the signs to Säkinmäki. In Säkinmäki (Hankasalmi), turn onto Lehminiementie (number 34). Turn right at the sign for Haukilammen Tunnelmatupa/Lumous, drive approximately. 600 m and turn left. Follow the signs for Lumous. Please note there is a steep uphill with an S-curve - at the top, you have arrived. From the parking area, walk about 60 metres along a gravelled nature path to the accommodation. In winter, the parking area is located 260 metres away from the hut due to the steep and slippery S-curve hill and road.
